Hi, I'm Shel

August 10, 2016

Because you shouldn’t have to look at your blog like it's a treadmill.

Because its okay to say only what you have to say. If that makes a long post, fine. Short post, fine. Frequent post, fine. Infrequent post, fine.

Because its okay to not always be enthralled with the sound of your own typing.

Because sometimes less is more.

Because only blogging when you feel truly inspired keeps the integrity of your blog high.

Because they are probably not going to inscribe your stat, link, and comment numbers on your tombstone.

Because for most of us blogging is just a hobby -- a way to express ourselves and connect with others. There's no need to apologize for lapses in posts. Instead take a step back, enjoy life, and remember: not everything you do is “bloggable”.

Because your blog enjoys natural longevity when it never becomes a chore.

I sold the first Potbelly Bear in 2004, marking the start of a creative career I never could have anticipated. I've met the warmest and kindest of people, and I've had the most wonderful time!

In the years since that first sale, Potbelly Bears has grown its offerings. I still make Potbelly Bears, of course – but also Old Timers, pincushions, and more. I've rebranded to be more inclusive of that. And since "Shelli Makes" all that I offer, Shelli Makes has become my new name.

I'm especially excited about the new shop feature. It's easy to use, and a self-contained purchasing portal – and also serves as a gallery of recent work. I don't anticipate any problems with it, but if you have questions or comments about the Shelli Makes shop, please eMail to let me know.

I hope you'll enjoy the new look, and thanks for checking in. I appreciate you.

I'm re-starting my blog after a long, restful break. It feels good to reconnect. Thanks so much to all of you that asked for it and who have purchased my work over the years. I say it all the time and I mean it sincerely: I appreciate you!

I love sewing, soaping,
nature, reading, people, birds, Disney, coffee, & fleece

Musings and messes and magic and fun... the happy scrapbook of a creative, grateful life.

Sometimes I link to resources that I use personally and thus feel comfortable recommending to others. I participate in the Amazon Associates program, so when you purchase using my links I may receive a small percentage of the sale (at no additional cost to you.) Thank you for helping support indie artisans!  I will only recommend what I know and believe in; never just to be compensated. So when I write that I use and love something, you can trust that I really do.
